Liberia (Sep 2003 - To Date)

Pakistan's contribution in UN Observer Mission in Liberia (UNOMIL) extended for approximately 7 years from 1997 to 2003 and continues thereafter (since 2003) in UN Mission in Liberia (UNMIL) till date. Currently, Pakistani contingent comprises three infantry battalions, three engineer companies and a hospital, the largest of all contingents in Liberia. With other peacekeeping activities.

Our contingent has carried out humanitarian assistance, rehabilitation and development projects, and smooth conduct of elections. Peaceful elections and referendums paved way for draw down on UN troops. Situation is fast returning to normalcy, which is mainly due to the efforts of Pakistani peacekeepers, something that is acknowledged not only by the UN leadership but also the Liberians.
